Hi, I’m Michael.
I first picked up a guitar in the 90’s, with a keen interest in indie and alternative rock. I was lucky enough to have an inspirational guitar tutor who introduced me to an array of new music. I was hooked and after high school decided to study music further, where I developed a strong interest in classic rock and improvisation. At college and university my playing matured as I studied at an advanced level with a focus particularly on jazz styles.
Teaching
After graduating in 2005 I started teaching professionally at a guitar school. I have also taught guitar in various schools and colleges in Manchester, while now I primarily like to teach from my home studio.
Sound Production
Aside from guitar playing I also have experience in sound production and have worked in recording studios as well as recording and producing my own music which has seen radio play in the UK and the US. I frequently like to use recording as a learning tool in lessons and can advise students who are interested in getting their own home recording setup.
Guitar Technology
Another thing I have a keen interest in is guitar technology. I have a blog and small YouTube channel where I explore various different aspects of guitar technology such as pedals, amps and guitar setups.
Live
In addition to teaching during the week I also perform live when I can. With a busy family life I don’t perform as much or as far afield as I used to, currently playing mainly in covers acts at local pubs and clubs.
